Pixelmon adds its own ores to the Overworld alongside the vanilla Minecraft ores. They generate as veins in stone and deepslate (most ores have a matching deepslate variant) and yield evolution stones, gems, and metals used throughout the mod.

Mining ores

Pixelmon ores follow vanilla ore behaviour. Every ore requires the correct pickaxe tier to drop anything; mining one with a suitable pickaxe drops its resource item, the Fortune enchantment increases the amount, and Silk Touch drops the ore block itself. Most ores also generate a deepslate variant in the deepslate layer that drops the same item.

Evolution-stone ores

Evolution-stone ores drop a stone shard when mined. Smelting the ore in a furnace also yields one shard, and 9 shards craft into the finished evolution stone in a crafting grid.

Several evolution-stone ores emit light, Sun Stone Ore and Shiny Stone Ore the brightest at light level 14.

Gem and mineral ores

These ores supply the gems and metals used in Pixelmon crafting. Raw metals are smelted into their ingots, while gems and crystals are used directly. Ruby, Sapphire, and Crystal ore also drop experience when mined.

Crystal Ore does not generate as ordinary veins — it lines crystal geodes, pockets of calcite and smooth basalt that generate deep underground.

Fossil ore

Fossil Ore generates in gravel and deepslate and yields covered fossils used to revive prehistoric Pokémon. Its generation and the revival process are documented on the Fossils page.
