Each attempt looks for a location that satisfies one entry below and then succeeds with a 100% chance. An attempt that finds no valid location produces nothing, so the biomes, times and location types a player is standing near decide which Legendary can appear.

Pokémon do not spawn on the exact block a player occupies, and <code>/checkspawns</code> reports only that block. Standing beside suitable ground rather than on it gives the spawner more valid positions to choose from.
An attempt does not search the whole world. It picks one player, then one small box of blocks near that player, and can only produce a Pokémon that fits inside that box:


A successful spawn is announced to the whole server, naming the biome it appeared in.
# The attempt rolls its success chance first. A failed roll ends it immediately, without examining the world.
# Online players are grouped into clusters. Any two players within 50 blocks of each other belong to the same cluster, and players in a dimension where spawning is disabled are skipped.
# One cluster is chosen at random, then one player inside it at random. Clusters are weighted equally, so a player standing alone is as likely to be chosen as a group of ten together.
# A random compass bearing and a random distance between 18 and 120 blocks from that player give a single point. The point keeps the player's own height.
# The spawner scans a box around that point: 5 blocks out horizontally and 25 blocks up and down, or 11 by 51 by 11 blocks in total.
# Every position in that box that satisfies a spawn entry below becomes a candidate, and one entry is drawn from the candidates.


A Legendary that is not caught despawns after 5 minutes.
Only that one box is examined per attempt, so an attempt can find nothing at all. A Legendary is placed between 18 and 120 blocks away rather than underfoot, and the box is centred on the player's own height, which is why standing beside open ground of the right kind matters more than standing on it.

Legendary Pokémon are the rarest Pokémon in the game. They have high base stat totals, low catch rates, and a spawner of their own, and they are guaranteed at least three perfect IVs. This version has 71 Legendary and 23 Mythical species. Ultra Beasts (11 species) are a separate group: they carry their own tag, use the ordinary wild spawner, and are not listed here.

Spawning

One shared spawner places every Legendary Pokémon. They do not use the ordinary wild spawn rate, so how common a biome is has no effect on how often they appear. This server schedules Legendary spawns itself rather than leaving them to Pixelmon's own timer: two or three appear each day, at least 90 minutes apart, at any hour.

How a spawn attempt works

An attempt does not search the whole world. It picks one player, then one small box of blocks near that player, and can only produce a Pokémon that fits inside that box:

  1. The attempt rolls its success chance first. A failed roll ends it immediately, without examining the world.
  2. Online players are grouped into clusters. Any two players within 50 blocks of each other belong to the same cluster, and players in a dimension where spawning is disabled are skipped.
  3. One cluster is chosen at random, then one player inside it at random. Clusters are weighted equally, so a player standing alone is as likely to be chosen as a group of ten together.
  4. A random compass bearing and a random distance between 18 and 120 blocks from that player give a single point. The point keeps the player's own height.
  5. The spawner scans a box around that point: 5 blocks out horizontally and 25 blocks up and down, or 11 by 51 by 11 blocks in total.
  6. Every position in that box that satisfies a spawn entry below becomes a candidate, and one entry is drawn from the candidates.

Only that one box is examined per attempt, so an attempt can find nothing at all. A Legendary is placed between 18 and 120 blocks away rather than underfoot, and the box is centred on the player's own height, which is why standing beside open ground of the right kind matters more than standing on it.

How the Pokémon is chosen

Each entry valid at the chosen location contributes its rarity as a weight. The weights are added up and one entry is drawn in proportion to its share, so an entry's real chance depends entirely on which other entries are also valid there. A rarity of 3 is not a 3% chance: it is three times the pull of a rarity of 1 standing beside it, and the only entry valid at a location is chosen every time however low its rarity. Any rarity multiplier listed under Requirements is applied to that weight before the draw.

Checking what can spawn

/checkspawns legendary me reports what the spawner could produce around the caller, under the heading Possible spawns near you:. It samples the same ring the spawner uses, so it answers the question that matters: if this player is the one chosen, what can appear. Adding a species name (/checkspawns legendary me articuno) filters the list.

/checkspawns legendary without a scope answers for every online player at once, which is the server-wide picture rather than the caller's own. Percentages in either list are shares of one draw at a sampled location, not chances per hour.

Each row is one spawn entry. Rarity is a weight compared only against the other Legendary entries valid at the chosen location, not a percentage. Biomes this server does not generate are left out.
