Pokérus
Pokérus ("Pokémon virus") is a status a Pixelmon can carry. While infected, the effort values (EVs) a Pixelmon gains from battle are doubled. An infection lasts a fixed time set by its strain, then becomes cured, and can spread to adjacent party members after a battle. It has no negative effects.
Effect
While infected, EVs gained from battle are doubled. The multiplier is applied after EV-boosting held items: a Macho Brace or power item (e.g. Power Weight) bonus is added first, then the total is doubled. Pokérus affects only EV gain.
Strains
On infection a Pixelmon is assigned a random strain. The strain sets the infection's duration and has no other effect. Infection lasts between 1 and 4 days.
| Strain | Duration |
|---|---|
A
|
1 day |
B
|
2 days |
C
|
3 days |
D
|
4 days |
Uninfected Pixelmon use the UNINFECTED marker. The infected and cured states keep the same strain name.
Acquisition
From wild Pixelmon
Spawned Pixelmon have a 1 in 12,288 (0.0081%) chance per spawn to carry Pokérus.
Individual spawns and spawn sets may override this rate with spawnSpecificPokerusRate or setSpecificPokerusRate; none are set in the current spawn data.
Spreading after battle
After a player wins a battle, an infected party Pixelmon can spread Pokérus to its adjacent party slots, and an attacker can be infected by a target it hits that carries Pokérus. Fainted Pixelmon, Pixelmon already carrying Pokérus, and cured Pixelmon are skipped (a cured Pixelmon cannot be re-infected).
Each eligible spread attempt has a 1 in 5 (20%) chance to succeed.
Pokémon Spec
Pokérus can be set or matched via Pokémon Spec using pokerus:<strain> or pkrs:<strain>, where <strain> is one of UNINFECTED, A, B, C, D.
Duration and curing
The infection timer advances only while the Pixelmon is in a player's party. Pixelmon in the PC do not age, and eggs are skipped and never carry Pokérus, so storing an infected Pixelmon in the PC preserves the infection indefinitely.
When the timer reaches the strain's duration, the Pixelmon is cured. A cured Pixelmon retains a record of the infection but can no longer spread it.
Notification
The first time a party Pixelmon is found carrying Pokérus, the next healer used announces it.
The healer dings at you, and an automated message plays.
Your Pixelmon appear to have been infected by Pokérus, a microscopic life-form that we do not know much about just yet.
It spreads quickly, but does not seem to cause any harm.
It has, on occasion, even proven to be beneficial to a Pixelmon's growth, though infections seem to be short-lived.
