Boss Pokemon are uncapturable Pokemon with a configured boss tier. The tier controls weighted selection, battle level, model size, name color, Mega behavior, forced palette, and reward pools.

Natural boss tiers

Natural tiers are selected by relative weight. The all-tier percentage uses every randomly spawnable tier; the Mega-only percentage uses only tiers marked as Mega.

Tier Color Weight All-tier chance Mega-only chance Battle level Model scale Mega Forced palette
Common #C0C0C0 50 33.11% - Highest opposing level + 5 1.2x No None
Uncommon #00D43F 40 26.49% - Highest opposing level + 10 1.4x No None
Rare #006EFF 30 19.87% - Highest opposing level + 20 1.6x No None
Epic #9F00D9 20 13.25% 64.52% Highest opposing level + 30 1.8x Yes None
Legendary #FFA200 10 6.62% 32.26% Highest opposing level + 40 2x Yes Shiny
Ultimate #00FFFF 1 0.66% 3.23% Highest opposing level + 50 2.2x Yes Shiny

Special tiers

These definitions are excluded from weighted natural-tier selection. They can be assigned explicitly by other mechanics. Not Boss is the sentinel used for a normal Pokemon.

Tier Color Battle level Model scale Mega Forced palette Boss tier ID
Drowned #67C9A4 Highest opposing level + 20 3x No Drowned Yes drowned
Equal #FFFFFF Highest opposing level 1x No None Yes equal
Haunted #C281C7 floor(Highest opposing level x 1.25) + 3 1x No None Yes haunted
Not Boss #FFFFFF Highest opposing level 1x No None No notboss

Level scaling

When battle starts, Pixelmon finds the highest level among opposing player participants, multiplies it by the tier's level multiplier, discards the fractional part, and then adds the tier's extra levels.

Mega bosses and Mega items

A Mega tier may Mega Evolve when the Pokemon's form supports Mega Evolution. On defeat, a random Mega item for that form is considered for the player receiving rewards. The first-item chance is used until that species and form has been recorded for the player; later rewards use the repeat chance.

Tier First Mega item Repeat Mega item
Epic 100.00% 2.50%
Legendary 100.00% 5.00%
Ultimate 100.00% 10.00%

Drop sets

Each drop set checks its activation chance independently. If it activates, it makes the configured number of weighted selections from that set. Total weight is the sum of all reward weights in the pool.
