Boss Pokemon are uncapturable Pokemon with a configured boss tier. The tier controls weighted selection, battle level, model size, name color, Mega behavior, forced palette, and reward pools.

Natural tiers are selected by relative weight. The all-tier percentage uses every randomly spawnable tier; the Mega-only percentage uses only tiers marked as Mega.

When battle starts, Pixelmon finds the highest level among opposing player participants, multiplies it by the tier's level multiplier, discards the fractional part, and then adds the tier's extra levels.

== Mega bosses and Mega items ==

A Mega tier may Mega Evolve when the Pokemon's form supports Mega Evolution. On defeat, a random Mega item for that form is considered for the player receiving rewards. The first-item chance is used until that species and form has been recorded for the player; later rewards use the repeat chance.
